The 16th edition of NEPCON South China kicked off at Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center today. The large scale exhibition brought together more than 500 leading companies from 22 countries and regions. This year’s exhibiting area spans a massive 30,000 sqm, up 18 percent from 2009. Numerous leading vendors such as Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Omron, AA Electronics, Assembléon, Tokyo Juki, WKK, Zestron, Kyzen, Indium Corporation, Henkel and SMIC were onsite with their latest machines and upgraded products. Tens of thousands of visitors from the electronics manufacturing industry streamed through the doors on Day 1.
NEPCON South China 2010, one of the largest, longest standing and most comprehensive SMT platforms in South China, blends extensive resources with key elements of various sectors. The show focuses on popular hotspots across consumer electronics, netbooks, 3G, automotive electronics, medical devices, PV, LED and machine vision. In so doing, it helps companies learn about market trends and emerging opportunities. The show also boosts innovation within the industry.
Nearly 120 world-renowned companies debuted new products on the show floor today. The LED and PV displays were among the most visited attractions of the new products and sectors highlighted. Sony, Samsung, Juki, Smartech and other exhibitors introduced SMT and electronics manufacturing systems and technologies for application in the LED sector. Rehm Thermal, Heraeus Materials, Nordson EFD, Henkel and a host of other key exhibitors also displayed their innovative products for the PV sector.
This year’s event will attract 25,000 pre-registered visitors. Additionally, more than 70 top electronics manufacturers, including TCL, BYD, Nokia, Huawei, Samsung, Foxconn, Shinco (Chang’an), ZTE and Hasee have organized strong visiting delegations. Leading LED companies such as Wai Chi Electronics, Diguang Electronics, Kingsmart, Coship, Bang-Bell Electronics and Kingsun Photoelectricity have as well.
In addition to the products on display, numerous exciting onsite activities and forums took place, serving as a platform through which diverse industry requirements were satisfied. Day 1 saw the “Solar Cell and Equipment Manufacturing Technology Summit 2010” take place. This meeting was enthusiastically attended by visitors. More than 10 industry experts spoke at the summit. These included Su Zuyao, General Manager of Du Pont Apollo Limited; Tan Manlin, Associate Professor of Harbin Institute of Technology; Professor Xiao Xudong of the Chinese University of Hong Kong; and Liu Zhuang of Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT). These esteemed industry figures presented keynote speeches to a captivated audience of over 200 high-profile members of the trade. The “SMTA South China Conference” also took place on Day 1. It focused on two themes: excellent control of processes & materials, and how to realize green production. The conference focused on the latest technologies in the SMT industry and world famous experts spoke on topical industry issues.
Together with EEPW magazine, Reed Exhibitions will host the “China High-End Seminar on the Application of Automotive Electronics Technologies” tomorrow (Day 2). This workshop will focus on hot topics in the automotive electronics industry. By shining a spotlight on industry-related technologies in South China, it will analyze the latest one-stop solutions that have emerged.
Diverse communication opportunities also are plentiful onsite. Reed Exhibitions, the organizers of the event, provided a refreshing afternoon tea for high-profile Diamond Club members from three key sectors: PC manufacturing & solar energy PV; mobile phone manufacturing & automotive electronics; and consumer electronics manufacturing & LED. The relaxed atmosphere was the perfect environment for key industry figures to discuss optimization solutions for the electronics manufacturing industry.
NEPCON Fans Club also demonstrated the workings of it points-for-prizes program. This activity was enthusiastically received by the loyal NEPCON visitors. SMT Home is set to host an Engineers’ Salon and SMT Home Member Gathering on September 2. This get-together is sure to bring excellent opportunities for communication among industry peers.
After two successful editions, the Selection of the Best SMT Industry Engineers is now widely viewed as an exceptional platform for the best of the best from the SMT sector. The selection of Electronics Manufacturing & SMT Industry Engineers in China is open and the recruitment drive for the Best SMT Engineer Award is in full swing. Approximately 100 applicants either put themselves forward or were nominated by a colleague today.
Under pressure to reduce labor costs, manufacturers are turning to automation in higher numbers. Crucial to the cost-reduction solution, ATE China 2010 also opened at the same venue today. Companies like Kilews, Federal, Dalsa, Tensun, Dongguan Media Speed, Fuzhidao, Tron, ADSYS Technologies, Xi’an S/A Video-Telecom Tech. and X.L.T. International Electronics exhibited their latest products and technologies, with a focus on machine vision.
