SMART Group, Europe’s largest technical trade association focusing on surface mount and related technologies, issues a call for papers for its SMART Group European Conference & Exhibition, which will be held from 2-3 October 2013, in Oxfordshire, England.
The theme of this year’s conference is improving efficiency and winning new business. The SMART Group is interested in receiving papers in the following general topic areas:
• Energy reduction
• Better materials utilisation
• Reducing waste
• On shoring
• Yield improvement
• Improving throughput, plant utilisation
• Concurrent engineering and cost reduction
• Government and EU grant aid
• Cost of ownership in capital procurement
• Shortening “idea to line” time
• ISO 14001 and saving money
To be considered to speak at the SMART Group Conference, provide a brief synopsis of 400 words or less in English. All proposed papers should be emailed to technical@smartgroup.org and should include a title, abstract, speaker’s name and company. The deadline to receive abstracts is 24th May 2013.
Speakers will profit by national and international publicity as well as have the chance to meet the industry’s principal “movers and shakers.” Speakers’ names and companies will be published in the conference programme, on the Internet and in the conference proceedings. Additionally, speakers have free admission to all sessions of the conference.
“We expect the business climate to remain consistent with recent years; however, there is business to be won based on new onshore opportunities. There is evidence from some high-profile wins of renewed competitiveness against the Far East,” said Sue Knight, Chairman Technical Committee. “Our objective with the conference is to help ensure that our members specifically and our industry in general is well placed and informed to take advantage of these opportunities.”
In addition to the conference, the table top exhibition again will be held for companies that wish to interact with the industry’s major users and practitioners.
