Executive Management Meetings at IPC APEX EXPO Spotlight Key Opportunities, Environmental Issues and International Trends

Jan 13, 2012

Before the action begins at IPC APEX EXPO 2012, executives will gather for the IPC EMS Management Council Meeting and the IPC PCB Executive Management Meeting. These exclusive events, taking place February 27 at the San Diego Convention Center, will focus on the strategic business issues unique to senior-level decision makers in the PCB and EMS industries.

The purpose of these meetings is to give senior-level decision makers the view of the industry they need to plan for the future of their companies. Presentations focus on business strategies, supply chain issues and industry trends,” says Susan Filz, director of industry programs and professional development for IPC. “More importantly, it is a forum for executive level networking.”

The EMS Management Meeting will start the day with an international panel on trends in the EMS industry. Tony Zhou, president, RayVal Technologies Co. Ltd. in China; Roger Engle, president, AESCO Electronics in the United States; and Gary Barnier, senior executive, Centum Electronics Ltd. in India, will present on their companies’ views of the industry and what they are planning for a strong future.

Attendees will hear about current distribution trends and the impact these trends will have on the EMS industry from David Doherty, vice president of global supplier and product operations, Digi-Key Corporation. Andrew Hamelynck, vice president of mission assurance, L-3 Communications Telemetry-West, will discuss how EMS companies can manage increased expectations in a budget constrained environment.

Cloud computing is transforming the way people do business in myriad industries, and Marty Bentley, CIO, EPIC, will discuss how EMS companies can take advantage of the revolutionary technology with their ERP systems. Fern Abrams, director of government relations and environmental policy for IPC will then follow with critical updates on conflict minerals and RoHS.

Abrams will lead off the morning session of the IPC PCB Executive Management Meeting with an update on the political and environmental issues impacting the PCB industry. Hamelynck will then discuss how PCB companies can discover opportunities in the new economy and Shawn DuBravac, chief economist, Consumer Electronics Association, will share his expertise on where the market is headed.

Joel Yocom, Reshore America, will offer insight on what PCB companies can do to bring manufacturing back to North America. In the afternoon session, a panel of representatives from North America, Europe and Asia will provide an international perspective on the PCB industry.

The day will culminate with roundtable discussions providing opportunities for attendees to exchange ideas and share experiences.
