Indium Corporation Receives First IPC J-STD-004 QPL Certification

Oct 15, 2013

IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries® awarded the first IPC J-STD-004 Qualified Products Listing (QPL) certificate to Indium Corporation’s Clinton, N.Y., USA facility. IPC Director of Validation Services Randy Cherry presented the certificate to Indium at the IPC Fall Standards Development Committee Meetings which were co-located with SMTAI at the Fort Worth Convention Center, Fort Worth, Texas.

The Indium Corporation recognizes the technical importance of reducing material qualification cycle times,” said Tim Jensen, global product manager, PCB Assembly Materials, at Indium Corporation. “IPC Validation Services are an integral part of our global ‘From One Engineer To Another®’ program. We are proud to be the first electronics materials company certified to IPC J-STD-004.”

Indium Corporation was the first manufacturer to participate in IPC’s new Validation Services QPL/QML Program which was launched earlier this year. Developed to promote supply chain verification, the program provides audit, inspection, testing and advisory services to suppliers throughout the electronics industry.
Indium’s Clinton, N.Y. USA facility was the first site to undergo IPC’s assessment/audit based around IPC J-STD-004, Requirements for Soldering Fluxes. In addition to successfully completing the program, the Indium team provided valuable feedback to IPC which enabled the program to focus on technical processes required to produce flux chemistries. Flux samples were sent to a third-party test lab for verification to the classifications listed in IPC J-STD-004 using IPC-TM-650 test methods.

Future facilities and other QPLs are being considered by Indium Corporation to expand its product offerings and to show conformance to other IPC standards.
