Innovative drop detector for micro dispensing

MUNICH, Germany – February 25, 2016 – VERMES Microdispensing, a world leader in the design and manufacture of innovative microdispensing solutions, today VERMES Microdispensing released its first fiber based drop detection system that is currently the smallest system on the market for detecting faulty droplets in micro dispensing.

The DDS 80 Drop Detection System optimizes the process reliability of jetting applications with its ability to accurately detect missing droplets.

The DDS 80 is an extremely flat designed system for defect drop detection that uses a fiber optic drop sensor based on an algorithm of the RF technology and therefore it does not require an expensive micro lens. It detects missing and incorrect droplets even at high speed doses, residue, unintended coated or broken fiber. The system reliably identifies even the smallest, transparent drops.

The drops review is adaptable to the individual fault tolerance of customer applications, ranging from the detection of missing drops through to recognition strongly deformed droplets. In addition the DDS 80 allows controlling of the drop time accuracy, the identification of faults and media residues on the nozzle.

The robust design of the DDS 80 is characterized, like all VERMES Microdispensing products through easy handling and cleaning and high functionality. With the help of a teach-in process, it provides an automatic parameter determination, a self-test routine, as well as a statistical error signal control.

The detection of a droplet fault triggers a fault alarm, an error message is transmitted directly to the production control and real-time interruption of the monitoring system can be initiated. The DDS 80 drop detector is easy and quick to install on the nozzle and has an extremely low height requirement.

The very compact controller with multiple standard interfaces, such as RS-232C and Direct I / O allows uninterrupted Stati-evalution and enables self-monitoring of the fiber optic sensor circuit. Electromagnetic interference does not affect the function of the DDS 80 drop detection system. Costs for maintenance and spare parts are minimal.

The DDS 80 drop detection system can always be retrofitted to existing VERMES Microdispensing systems and is adaptable to the individual customer requirements.
