Europlacer turned 50 on July 08, 2020. It’s a significant milestone for a business founded with just £10 ($13) of capital in the UK, back in 1970. In the half-century that has passed, Europlacer has come a long way.
The origins of the business date back to when Blakell Systems Ltd was incorporated as a limited company in the UK on 8th July 1970. The company was founded by the late Pat Kellard. Old hands in the electronics industry will remember Pat and other members of the Kellard family fondly. Blakell Systems Ltd started out as a general engineering company. It moved into the electronics manufacturing sector with a light-guided system for the semi-automated hand assembly of circuit boards. Then, in 1991, it acquired French company Europlacer Industries SAS and became the Blakell Europlacer Group.
Today, the Blakell Europlacer Group is the world’s largest independent manufacturer of superior assembly solutions. It is known worldwide for its ultra-flexible Europlacer surface mount placement platforms and premium Speedprint screen printers. The Group returns annual revenues of over £30 million ($40 million approx.), has over 700 customers in 40 countries and employs more than 180 staff located around the globe. Its focus continues to be on increasing the assembly productivity of its customers with intelligent solutions and multi-award-winning support. To read more, visit
