Widely regarded in the industry as the leading automatic reconfigurable tooling solution, Ovation's Grid-Lok and HD Grid-Lok products will be demonstrated live throughout the 3-day event. As an alternative to costly and often problematic dedicated fixture plates or tooling pins, Grid-Lok technology delivers a robust pin array system that seamlessly sets and re-sets to fully support both single- and double-sided substrates. Grid-Lok automatically conforms to underside printed circuit board (PCB) componentry, ensuring maximum stability throughout all assembly processes including screen printing, component placement and inspection. Because the system operates independently of the host machine with no operator intervention required for product changeover, use of Grid-Lok improves throughput, lowers cost of ownership and dramatically enhances board stability.
The widespread acceptance of Grid-Lok is evidence of its extreme relevance to modern electronics processes, comments Ovation President, Neil MacRaild. We are excited about showing this technology and our latest Magna-Print solution to technologists in the Midwest, a region of great importance to Ovation.
Also on display from the Ovation booth at IPC Midwest, is the company's latest engineering advance, Magna-Print. A universal squeegee blade system, Magna-Print has been designed with process flexibility at its core. In today's high-mix production environments, constantly changing squeegee blades to accommodate different-sized PCBs is a necessary, yet cumbersome and time-consuming task. To alleviate the issues associated with blade changeover and the subsequent process challenges that result from equipment downtime, Ovation design engineering specialists developed Magna-Print. The system consists of a patent-pending universal squeegee blade holder, adjustable paste deflectors and a selection of squeegee blades to accommodate PCBs of any size. Blades are held firmly in place with Magna-Print's proprietary locking mechanism and can be changed in seconds without removing the holders from the machine. The system's unique coating makes cleaning easy so that potential threats of cross-contamination a concern for operations running both leaded and lead-free processes are eliminated.
Ovation technology specialists will be on-hand throughout the IPC Midwest event from booth #622 to demonstrate its Grid-Lok and Magna-Print technologies and show manufacturing specialists how these advances can boost productivity, improve yield and lower overall manufacturing cost.
