Mel received the award for his leadership of the 7-30 Product Assurance General Committee and guidance to the task groups that developed IPC-610E; IPC-A-600H, Acceptability of Printed Boards; IPC-AJ-820, Assembly & Joining Handbook, and related support documents.
STI recently was awarded a contract with IPC to update the existing IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 training and certification programs from the D to the recently released E revision of the standards. STI has extensive experience in curriculum development and has worked with IPC numerous times in previous years to develop and/or update curriculum for IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC-A-620 and IPC-7711/7721. The two program updates are being developed concurrently with betas to be conducted from April-June 2010.
Mel has been active in IPC technical committee work for over 23 years, and is currently General Chair of the Product Assurance, which includes many important committees and documents such as IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, IPC-7711 and others. Mel has served in a leadership position for IPC-A-610 beginning with Revision A, which is now newly revised and published as IPC-A-610, Revision E.
